Renewable energy storage (KW Scale)

The WCWI team is uniquely positioned to assess the integration of WEC power into community loads on the KW scale due to partnerships developed with community of Hot Springs Cove. Hot Springs Cove on the Hesquiaht peninsular is an isolated, non-grid connected village running on diesel power generation. In partnership with Pulse Energy, the entire community of Hot Springs cove is continually monitored and data logged every minute for energy consumption and power generation. Given the gross theoretical wave resource from the wave assessment and the technically recoverable resource from the numerical WEC simulations, detailed investigations into theoretical diesel consumption reductions and renewable energy storage possibilities will be conducted at high temporal resolution. The detailed community data provided at Hot Springs Cove will also dramatically improve the resolution of the WCWI integration analyses over the present day standard.
